Implementation – Team Work Makes It Happen.

During the implementation there are different people doing different elements of the implementation. As a part of the team each person has their specific responsibilities. Following are the different positions and a brief description of the responsibilities.

Abbasoft Project Manager

The Abbasoft Project Manager is an experienced person having installed many installations. They generally have a business degree as well as having been an end user themselves. Their responsibilities include training, managing the installation, establishment of goals and most important, helping the Customer to reengineer their business processes. Training is generally done on site with the users. For smaller Customers, the training is generally at the users desk. For larger Customers a small lab will be set up so the Project Manager can optimize their time training multiple users at once. This includes hands on processing of the your demo data. As for managing the installation, an Implementation Plan is developed and loaded on the Internet. Each user is give a logon and password so at anytime they can view or even update the Implementation Plan. This plan is used to keep the project on budget and on schedule. Also included in the Implementation Plan are goals specific to the Customer. These goals may include bringing a module on line or down to specific task like getting the Job Cost Recap reports working. The last and most important part of the Project Manager’s task is to help the Customer reengineer their business processes. We don’t want to just install the new software but rather help the Customer think outside the box and maximize efficiency while minimizing the number of touches it takes to process an order. This may include bar coding, setting up automatic processes and many other creative ideas which will help you better service your Customers. Note that during an implementation the Project Manager may bring in other Abbasoft Project Managers to facilitate a faster installation.

Customer (In House) Project Manager

For larger Customers they generally assign one or more people to act as an In House (IH) Project Manager. Smaller companies will generally designate someone, at least part time, to be the IH Project Manager. These people do much of the same work as the Abbasoft Project Manager. An example might be the Abbasoft Project Manager trains the IH Project Manager who then trains the end users. Another example, the IH Project Manager may be the one who keeps the Implementation Plan current once it is built. The IH Project Manager is generally the key contact with the Abbasoft Tech Support Department.

End Users

The End Users are the people who use the software to some extent. These people range from being heavy duty key punch people to top managers who just monitor the Key Performance Indicators. Regardless of how much the End User uses the software, they will be trained how to use it. Training starts with understanding what each End User currently does. Next the software is configured to optimize their functions. Once that is done the End User(s) are shown the software running and at this point are given an opportunity to request additional configuration setup. The final part of End User training is having them get on the system in a demonstration data base and actually process the data. This continues until the End User feels comfortable using the system. Once this is accomplished we bring the End User on line. Even once the End User is on line, there is follow up training sessions scheduled to optimize the End User and the software.

Abbasoft Implementation Manager

To help ensure a successful implementation, the Abbasoft Implementation Manager visits each installation on a regular scheduled basis. The Implementation Manager’s job is to review the Implementation Plan with the Customer and the Abbasoft Project Manager. Together they make sure the implementation stays on course and on budget. During these meetings, if there is going to be some deviation from the original plan, it is during these sessions where the proposed changes are made. They may decide: more training is needed, not to bring up some piece of software at this time or even expand the implementation. We have found over the years and after hundreds of installations that the key to success is clear communications as to what has and will be happening to complete the Implementation Plan. By loading the Implementation Plan so that all parties have easy access via the Internet, it makes it very simple for anyone to see the current plan as well as update it.
